Dr. Orly Weinstein has been selected for the role of Director of the Division of Government Medical Centers in the Ministry of Health. The Minister of Health and the Director General of the Ministry have congratulated her on entering the role. ​Dr. Orly Weinstein has today (Wednesday) been selected to head the Division of Government Medical Centers in the Ministry of Health. The Division of Government Medical Centers, which is currently being established in the Ministry of Health, will deal with and focus on the management of government hospital centers: general, psychiatric and geriatric. The establishment of the Division is intended, first and foremost, to strengthen and develop the medical center system, and will enable historical structural separation between the roles of the Ministry of Health as a regulator and as the owner of government hospitals.
Dr. Weinstein, a specialist in ophthalmology and a specialist in health administration, has now served for over 4 years as deputy director of Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva. She also serves as senior faculty member at Ben Gurion University, and is a recipient of the Ministry of Health Director General’s prize in medical logistics. She has served in the past in additional roles: head of the Risk Management Unit at Soroka, medical advisor to the Director General of the Ministry of Health, commanding officer of the Southern Medical Installation in the IDF, chairperson of the specialization committee at Ben Gurion University, committee member representing the Ministry of Health on the subject of computerization of medical records.

The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Moshe Bar Siman Tov, congratulated Dr. Weinstein on being selected, and noted that: “Dr. Weinstein has the merit of being the founding director, setting up and creating the Division of Medical Centers in the Ministry of Health. The Division has an important role in strengthening and developing the government hospital system, and I am confident that Orly will be able to work hand in hand with the hospital directors and together promote  a quality, accessible and advanced medical system.”
