Faid Airfield, which has been used by the IAF for four months, since it was captured by the IDF on October 21st 1973, ceases to serve Israel as a result of the armistice accord between Israel and Egypt. The base had been an important element of the IDF’s deployment west of the Canal: it had served for evacuation of casualties, supply missions, reconnaissance flights, liaison and flying soldiers to home leaves and back from them.
