The “International” squadron has changed its name, and now will be called: “Giants of the desert” Squadron

“We felt it is time to change the name, as the squadron changed its purpose, methods of operation, and even its home base”, explained the squadron commander, Lieut. Col. Amir. “In the past, while we conducted some aerial refuel missions, intelligence gathering and transportation, the main focus of our work was international flights, and transporting senior officials. Today, we are mostly engaged in special military operations”.
The new name reflects the greatest asset of the squadron: a Boeing 707 – the largest air craft at the air force. Not only but also, the name signifies the new home base of the squadron: the southern Nevatim air base.
