Over the night of October 19 a joint IDF (Zahal) and ISA operation led to the arrest of Hamas Leader Hassan Yousef, in Beitunia, southwest of Ramallah.
Hassan Yousef (1955), resident of Ramallah, is a leader of the Hamas terror organization in the Judea and Samaria region. Yousef has been arrested and imprisoned multiple times in the past. During the Second Intifada Yousef was arrested with the assistance of his son Mosab who published the autobiography Son of Hamas and now lives in the United States. He has been actively instigating and inciting terrorism by publicly encouraging and praising the execution of attacks against Israelis.
“Hamas’ leaders cannot expect to propagate violence and terror from the comfort of their living-rooms and pulpits of their mosques.” Explains Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, IDF (Zahal) Spokesman, “You cannot encourage, promote and praise the death of the innocent. The IDF (Zahal) will act swiftly in order to contain the hateful incitement that jeopardizes the safety and well being of Israelis and Palestinians alike.”
