The IAF is watching over Israel’s airspace at every minute. Combat interception planes intercepted unidentified balloon over the southern part of the Dead Sea
It’s been more than four years since the “Ababil” UAVs belongs to “Hizbullah” were intercepted by the IAF during the Second Lebanon War in 2006.
Today, for the first time since the Second Lebanon War, combat planes of the IAF were deployed. The interception was carried out after the Southern Control Unit of the IAF identified suspicious movement by an unrecognized body over the southern part of the Dead Sea.
Upon further examination, it became clear that the object was a balloon. Further testing showed that the balloon was not manned and that there was no obvious reason for its existence. The circumstances of the case are still unclear and it is unknown if the activity was hostile in nature.
