Iron Dome Intercepts Rocket in the North

The interception was the first one performed by the Iron Dome in the northern area since its deployment for operational activities. A barrage of rocket fire was detected from southern Lebanon. There has been no change in Home Front Command instructions. IDF Spokesman: “We assume that the shooting was carried out by global jihadist organizations”

IDF Spokesman, Brigadier General Yoav (Poli) Mordechai, referring to the events on Thursday afternoon in the north, said: “A barrage of three or four rockets being fired towards the State of Israel was detected from the southern area of Tyre. One rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome system between Akko and Nahariya”.

The IDF Spokesman stressed that currently no hits were detected in Israeli territory, and explained that “We assume based on intelligence that the shooting was carried out by global jihadist organizations”.

Brigadier General Mordechai stressed that “there have been no changes to Home Front Command instructions”, but said that the population in the area should remain attentive in case of further alarms. Likewise, the IDF spokesman announced that “air traffic in the Haifa area was closed until the situation clears up.”
