Participants of the Masa Israel Journey, along with a group of children who are treated by the Israeli Society for Autistic Children, new immigrants and visually impaired people who work at a rehabilitative plant in Jerusalem took part in Wednesday`s lighting of the fourth Hanukkah candle at the Knesset`s auditorium.
The ceremony was held in the presence of Education, Culture, and Sports Committee Chairman MK Yakov Margi, Knesset Director-General Ronen Plot and MK Aliza Lavie, who said ”we need to spread our great light because there is darkness in the world. Hanukkah is a holiday of women, and that is why they are permitted to light the candles. It is time that in the Knesset as well women will be allowed to light the menorah.”
The fourth candle was lit by MK Margi, Director-General Plot and representatives of the groups who attended the ceremony, who sang holiday songs along with singer Shira Margalit.
