An emotionally disturbed young Libyan hijacks a Lebanese Boeing 707 passenger plane that is en route to Beirut from Benghazi, forcing its pilot to land at Lod Airport. Four Phantom jets escort the hijacked plane on its way to Lod, while IAF planes bring troops to the airfield. The hijacked plane makes it to Lod, where an IDF force succeeds in freeing the 116 passengers aboard. The passengers – among them the Libyan ambassador in Iraq – take off again after spending five hours in Israel.
