Major General Amir Eshel will be replacing Major General Ido Nehoshtan who is ending his term as Commander of the IAF and will retire after 37 years of service with the IDF.
Minister of Defense Barak conveyed his best wishes to Major General Eshel, and said: “for the past two generations, the IAF has been Israel’s most critical and decisive component and the keystone of its deterrence capabilities”. Lieutenant General Benny Gantz also thanked Major General Nehoshtan for his ongoing contribution and achievements, saying: “we have the best Air Force in the world. The IAF has an immediate, significant and strategic value” .
Major General Ido Nehoshtan wished success to Major General Eshel and said that he trusts and believes in Eshel’s abilities to lead the Force and face the future challenges. “The IAF operates every day, every minute, 365 days a year, across Israel and around the world guarding the State of Israel”, said Major General Ido Nehoshtan.
Major General Amir Eshel thanked the Minister of Defense and the Chief of General Staff for trusting him with the position and said, “Major General Ido Nehushtan leaves a strong and capable Air Force. We face significant challenges, but are ready for any future task”. “.
Tomorrow (Friday) Major General Nehoshtan will conduct his final flight with the “Scorpions” Squadron, over which he commanded, and on Monday will pass on the baton to Major General Amir Eshel.
