A seminar on the topic of “Making Decisions Under Conditions of Uncertainty” took place last Tuesday at the Air Force House in Herzliya. The event was lead by the Air Force Commander, Maj. Gen. Eliezer Shkedi.

The seminar is part of “The air force project for the development of creative thinking in resolving operational problems”, led by Prof. Mottie Chevion of the Hebrew University, and Dr. Shlomit Chevion.
Among the academic scholars participating at the seminar, were two Nobel Prize winners: Prof. Israel Oman of the Hebrew University, who lectured about the use of Game Theory in a decision making process, and Prof. Daniel Kahneman of Princeton University, who spoke about the psychological aspect of a decision making process.
Additional scholars who participated at the event were: Prof. Haim Shapira of the College of Management, Prof. Avraham Rivkind, Head of Shock Trauma Unit at Hadassah Hospital, Prof. Amir Barnea of the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, Col. (in reserve) Dr. Aviam Sela director of the Defence Division of Matrix, and Prof. Ido Erev of the Technion Institute of Technology.
The day was concluded by the Air Force Commander, Maj. Gen. Eliezer Shkedi: ”It is the greatest challenge, to make the right decision, at the right time, based on limited and partial information. Almost every operational decision we make has great impact and serious consequences for our country, its citizens, and soldiers”.
