Operation ‘Rooster 5b’: commandos from an elite unit, under (future Prime Minister) Maj. Ehud Barak, are landed by a pair of Super Frelons near the Sfajah – Kinah route in Egypt. Two of the fighters, Arabic speakers, disguise themselves as Egyptian policemen, and are supposed to halt an Egyptian military convoy that is expected to pass on the road. The plan calls for taking several top Egyptian officers prisoner for use as a bargaining chip, in order to secure the release of Israeli captives in Egypt. The convoy does not pass through the area, though, and the force instead takes 11 Egyptian civilians captive and damages four vehicles.
