A new Black-Hawk squadron is opened

An american Galaxy aircraft landed at the Nevatim base at the beginning of August, carrying five Black-Hawk helicopters newly purchased by the IAF. Right after landing the helicopters were prepared for operational flight.

In the year 2000 and acquisition deal to purchase further helicopters was made with Sikorsky, manufacturer of the Black-Hawk. The new aircrafts are almost identical in configuration to the improved helicopters serving in the Air Force since 1998. Among the changes are an advanced communication system, a new electrical system, a navigational system, electronic warfare system, flight safety system and several others unique systems developed and manufactured in Israel.
