The IAF attacks a target in the territory of Syria.
For the first time in 30 years, the IAF attack a target deep inside Syria, in response to the murder of 20 Israelis in a terrorist act occurring 12 hours earlier in the “Maxim” restaurant in Haifa. At 3 am F-16 penetrate deep into Syrian territory, few miles northwest of Damasks. The aircrafts drop their payload and hit their target – The training camp of the Islamic Jihad terror organization in Ein-Tzahab. The secondary explosions heard seconds after testify that the camp held many ammunitions and combat facilities. The aircraft formation headed back immediately after and returned to land in Israel.
