The year 2012 has almost come to an end. The IAF will seal the year with the Pilot Training Course graduation ceremony in late December. Within a short while, the new pilots will arrive at the squadrons, begin operational activity and take part in the busy daily routine of the aerial arm: covert operations, cooperation with ground forces, recues, intelligence collection, electronic warfare and more. A moment beforehand, we paused to observe the rush of activity of the past year to see–what has the IAF done in the year 2012?

January

An entire division paratroops though the southern skies

The paratroopers brigade and the IAF practice launching an entire division from Hercules planes. For the first time in 13 Years, over 100 fighters were viewed in the skies in one night

The next instructional plane has been chosen

The Italian M-346. Following an extensive examination process of both the Korean and Italian planes, the IAF recommended the purchase of the M-346. It is expected to land in Israel in the year 2014
