Two pilots killed at a helicopter crash On Wed. Sep 10th, 2008 two IAF pilots were killed at a ‘Cobra’ helicopter crash near kibbutz Geniger in Jezreel Valley. The helicopter was on a training flight, and crashed minutes after taking off from Ramat David air base.

 Air Force Commander, Maj. Gen Nehoshtan appointed a committee to investigate the circumstances of the accident. In addition, all ‘cobra’ helicopters were grounded until further notice.


The funeral of Major Shai Danor took place on Friday Sep. 12th at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul and was attended by the IAF Commander, Maj. Gen. Nehoshtan.

The funeral of Major Yuval Holzman will take place on Sunday Sep. 14th at the cemetery of Kibbutz Galon.

The ‘Cobra’ helicopter has been in IAF service since 1975, and is considered a highly reliable air craft.
