IAF Commander, Major Amir Eshel, has issued a special missive addressing the people of the Israeli Air Force. The letter refers to the hundreds of rockets intercepted by the Aerial Defense Division, and the commencement of the ground operation in the Gaza Strip. “The IAF’s achievements in this operation will be a key component in achieving security for the residents of the State of Israel”
People of the IAF, soldiers and reservists,
For 11 days now, The IAF has been fighting against “Hamas” and other terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip as part of Operation “Protective Edge”. The constant rocket fire has forced the State of Israel to respond vigorously in order to reinstate Israel’s security.
The IAF is working fiercely against the terror: Thousands of targets have been attacked, while upholding the moral values of the highest degree to prevent civilian casualties. We made very few mistakes relative to the volume of our attacks. We have improved and learned from those mistakes.
The IAF is defending Israeli citizens in an unprecedented way: Hundreds of rockets have been intercepted, and UAVs have been shot down. The diplomatic effort to stop the fire have not yet proven successful.
Consequently, the IDF was required to commence a ground operation targeted at locating terror tunnels that have been dug up from the Gaza Strip into Israel.
The IAF is fighting shoulder to shoulder with the ground forces, in order to enable the ground forces to achieve their goals.
The spirit of our people and the high-level performances of the combat and combat support soldiers, in the air and on ground, inspire pride, strength and confidence.
We will keep moving forward as needed, with determination, professionalism, high level of ethics, and modesty.
The IAF achievements in this operation will be a key component in achieving security for the residents of the State of Israel
Major Amir Eshel,
