The Ministry of Environmental Protection (MoEP) has imposed a NIS 6,000 fine on a ship that polluted the Mediterranean Sea while anchored at Ashdod Port. MoEP inspectors received reports about an oil leak on January 16th. They came to the scene to find that a faulty pipe on the ship was to blame. Inspectors cleaned the oil, and fined the ship’s owners. The money will be transferred to Israel’s Marine Pollution Prevention Fund.
