During the 134th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which is being held in Lusaka, Zambia, MK Nachman Shai (Zionist Camp) addressed Saturday`s terror attack in Istanbul and said ”Now everyone understands why there should be an all-out war on terror. It is a cruel and severe global phenomenon which obligates us all to join the fight against it.”
After updating the IPU`S Committee on Middle East Questions that among those murdered in the attack were Israeli citizens, Shai told the Palestinian representative, ”It is time to end the current wave of terror (in Israel). The Israeli public is interested in a diplomatic agreement and an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”

MK Sharren Haskel (Likud), who is also taking part in the conference, said Israel was willing to make painful concessions, as it has in the past, for the sake of an agreement.
MKs Shai and Haskel are representing the Knesset at the IPU Assembly. Some 150 parliamentarians from around the world are taking part in the conference, which is promoting issues such as democracy, human rights, the status of women and regional cooperation.
In June, at the IPU`s initiative, representatives of the region`s countries will meet in Jordan to discuss the water shortage, which is becoming more and more severe. MK Shai said Israel would use its experience and know-how to help the region`s countries overcome the water shortage.
