MK Shai calls for global war on terror during IPU assembly in Zambia

During the 134th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which is being held in Lusaka, Zambia, MK Nachman Shai (Zionist Camp) said that a global war on terrorism must be declared.

Addressing parliamentarians from 150 countries on Monday, Shai listed the names of the three Israelis killed in the Istanbul suicide attack and said ”There is no safe place on Earth. New York, London, Paris, Madrid, every capital, every city…is under terrorist threat. Until when will we wait, and for what? If we do not strike terror, it will strike us.” Shai said the time has come for a war on terrorism, and urged the IPU assembly to declare ”no more terrorism.”

During the conference, Morocco`s representatives failed in their attempt to initiate a debate on the Palestinian issue. The Committee on Human Rights of Parliamentarians discussed with Shai the suspension of three Arab Knesset Members from plenary debates.

MK Sharren Haskel (Likud) is also representing the Knesset at the IPU assembly.
