Ministry of Environmental Protection (MoEP) and Israel Fire and Rescue Services officials were on the scene at a factory in the northern city of Atlit, where there was a small ammonia leak. It happened at the Pri Or factory on the morning of April 25, 2016. The leak was small enough so as not to pose a danger to people nearby.
The MoEP and fire officials dealt with the hazardous material, in order to ensure that it didn’t become a public danger. MoEP officials believe the leak may have been caused by faulty maintenance of a piece of factory equipment. They have summoned the factory owners in for a hearing, and will take enforcement measures against the parties, if deemed necessary.
