The Knesset`s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, headed by MK Avi Dichter (Likud), held a special meeting on Monday with members of the German Bundestag`s Defense Committee.
During the meeting, which was held in the presence of Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein, the Knesset committee members and members of the German delegation discussed various issues, including: the current combat-related challenges, with an emphasis on terror and asymmetrical warfare; cyber; BDS; Israel`s relations with the Palestinian Authority; the current changes in the European Union; as well as the global and regional impact of the instability in the Middle East and the dissolution of countries in the region.
The visit by the Bundestag delegation, headed by Defense Committee Chairman Wolfgang Hellmich, is taking place as part of the dialogue between the Knesset and the German parliament, particularly between the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and the Bundestag`s Foreign Affairs Committee. Members of the Bundestag`s Foreign Affairs Committee visited Israel in February.
As part of the dialogue, it was agreed that next year a delegation of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee would meet at the Bundestag with members of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
