A delegation of Knesset members on an official visit to Latin America met in Montevideo, Uruguay on Wednesday with Chamber of Deputies President Gerardo Amarilla, as well as with members of the Uruguay-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group and senior representatives of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

The Chamber of Deputies is the lower house of Uruguay`s General Assembly.

The Knesset delegation is headed by Likud MK Nava Boker, who chairs the Israel-Uruguay Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Israel-Paraguay Parliamentary Friendship Group, and it also includes MKs David Bitan (Likud), Haim Jelin (Yesh Atid), Hilik Bar (Zionist Camp) and Hamad Amar (Yisrael Beitenu). The visit is being held in cooperation with the Jewish Agency.

Montevideo: Memorandum of understanding signed between Uruguayan Parliament and the Knesset

During the meeting, Amarilla signed a memorandum of understanding between the Uruguayan parliament and the Knesset, which calls for cooperation in various parliamentary fields, including the exchange of information on issues related to management and organization, as well as the use of advanced technologies, with an emphasis on the development of information technologies and exchanging experts and administrators.

The memorandum marks another step in the advancement of the relations between Israel and Uruguay.

MK Boker thanked her counterparts for Uruguay`s support of Israel in international forums. The Israeli lawmakers briefed their hosts on the situation in the Middle East and discussed the challenges Israel faces, particularly the daily fight against terror.
