Ministry Opposes Any ORL Building Plan that Doesn't Obligate Company to Comply with Permits or Reduce Pollution
In anticipation of an upcoming meeting on a building plan for the Oil Refineries Ltd compound in Haifa, the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MoEP) is emphasizing its opposition to any construction that will not result in an emissions reduction. The National Planning and Building Council will meet about the ORL construction plan on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. The MoEP believes any construction plan should require ORL to comply with specific instructions in its permits, issued by the Ministry to ORL. Construction should also be planned so as to reduce pollution and risks with regard to: air pollution, hazardous materials, pollution of streams, marine pollution, and more. The Ministry will object to any plan that does not do so.
