Yesterday a campaign of surgeries to restore proper eyesight of 14 people, children and adults alike, who suffer severe vision impairment was completed
During this campaign of surgeries that lasted 3 days and were leaded by the Health Coordinator of the Civil Administration, Ms. Dalia Bassa, and COGAT, corneal surgeries were coordinated for recovering proper eyesight of 14 Palestinians residents of Judea and Samaria and the Gaza Strip, at the St. John Hospital in eastern Jerusalem.
The corneas, which arrived as a donation from United States, have only a few days after the arrival until they expire, making necessary an immediate transplant. It is important to note that the youngest of the patients was a kid 6 years old and the oldest was 84 years old.
During 2014, the Civil Administration coordinated corneal transplants for 96 Palestinians in the St. John Hospital, which specializes in eye diseases.
